Creston Trip

My last day of work was the Monday before May Long Weekened, so we decided to celebrate by going to Creston for the weekend!! (Since I am writing this post over a month late, I may forget some of the details)

We headed out Saturday morning. Our kids have historically not been the best travellers, however we had hopes that now that they are older, things will be better. Well...the whinning 'Are we there yet?' starting before we even made it to Fort MacLeod! Haha! It was a long trek, with LOTS of pee breaks and even a picnic in the park in Cranbrook. We were all very happy to finally make it to Auntie Simone's.

Our visit was perfect. On Saturday, we hung out in the back yard and visited while the kids played. It was casual and easy - just the way it should be when you are with your family. After we got the kids to bed, Simone Britt and I stayed up REALLY late visiting. This is my favourite part of our trips, late night chats with my girls. We talked about everything - marriage, kids, the Gospel, friendships, health and a whole lot of non-sense! It was perfect.

On Sunday it was off to church. The big kids did great, both of them going to primary without any issues. John, on the other hand, cried pretty much the whole time and needed to be snuggled in the foyer. After church we went up to Karl and Louise's for a big lunch. Other than Ben, who comes home from his mission in a week, the whole family was there! Chisa, Dan and their 5 kids, Britt, Kev and their 4, Simone, Dustin and their 2, Kamo and Derek and Doug, myself and our 3. It was a FULL HOUSE but boy, it was awesome. We stayed there for hours, just eating and visiting. It brought back a lot of wonderful memories. Obce we headed back we got the kids to bed and then Simone and I stayed up late once again.

Monday we were up and out of there, heading to Fernie to have lunch with GG, AJ, Sar and Ali. It was great to see them on the way home. GG made ham and we ate WAY too much. The drive home was better than the drive there, thank goodness :)

My last day

Monday, May 16th was my last day of work.

I had so many emotions in the weeks working up to my last shift and I figured everything would hit me and I would fall apart as I said goodbye, however that's not how to played out at all. My last day, I just felt happy. Happy to have had worked for the best company, happy to have made great friendships and connections with my teammates, happy to serve all the customers who came through mty wicket, and most of all, happy to know that it was time to close this chaper and start a new one.

I was spoiled rotten on my last day!! There was a huge sheet cake in my honor, I got gifts of flowers, a gift card to Firestone and a bag of goodies for me and the kiddos. I felt loved and appreciated, which really is such a blessing.

I have now been off of work for a little over a month and I have had such peace that this is exactly what I was supposed to do. Working the budget has been a little tighter, but the blessings in our family are 10 fold! We are rich- rich with love, rich in the Spirit, rich in unity. My heart is filled with gratitude to the Lord that He lead me to make this choice to stay home.

Bring on the summer!!!
