Buddy the Elf :)

A few years back, my awesome sister in law, Cola, started doing Elf on a Shelf. At first, I wasn't all that interested, but as I saw how excited my niece got with discovering her Elf, Christopher, each morning, we figured we'd give it a try. We don't tell our kids that he is watching them or anything, they just get to find him each morning :)

This is Buddy's second year at our house :) The kids LOVED it! As soon as Nola woke up, she'd say "Where's Buddy?!?!?" She'd then bring along Robbie to search the house. Whenever she'd find him, she would giggle and say "Silly Buddy!" I think the saddest part about Christmas being over is that Buddy had to go back to the North Pole with Santa.

Elf on a Shelf really is a sweet and fun thing to do with your little ones. I highly recommend it!

Family photos :)

A young gal from our ward, Cassi Pierson, came to our house and took some family photos for us. The lighting wasn't that great, but she got some good ones!

I love my little family :)

Halloween 2013

When I asked Nola what she wanted to be for Halloween this year, she said

"I want to be a real black kitty, just like Dora."

Luckily for me, I was able to buy a black kitty costumer off the swap'n'buy for $3! Score. As for Robbie, Nicole had a robot costume, and since he's out little Robbie Robot, we figured that would work well. Double score!

We went out to Magrath so my mom could go with the kids trick-or-treating. The kids were so excited to be able to finally wear their costumes out! Nola had been wearing her kitty costume for weeks at home :) GG gave out candy while I sat on the couch with John. I was happy John came before Halloween - I really wanted him to wear his cute outfit!

When the kids came in with their treats, they we SO excited. Nola ran right up to me and said, 'Hey Mama! Check out my stash!' And Robbie dug through his pail, saying 'Oohh! Choc-it!' They were to die for!

It really was one happy Halloween :)

Hospital pic's of John

I am writing this 6 weeks after John's birth, so my memory is a little fuzzy. I was in the hospital for 4 days after John was born. It was a good experience - the nurses were kind and helpful, and I really enjoyed having so much one-on-one time with John. I had the perfect amount of visitors - Nana and Papa, Grandma and GG, and Melissa. Doug even went to work on the Monday, so I had a full day with just John and I :)

Some of the draw backs were the fact that children were not allowed on the maternity floor, due to the measles outbreak. That meant I didn't get to see the kids until I got home...which was sad. Also, I didn't know that I had to be in charge of my pain medication - I figured the nurses would just give me my meds when it was time. It's my nature to not want to 'pester' anyone, so I went hours without any sort of drugs. Finally, I couldn't take it anymore and asked a nurse. She didn't make me feel stupid for not asking earlier (which was awesome) and from then on I was on top of things.

Here are some of the pic's from us at the hospital :)

I can't believe I am posting this picture, but this is what you look like after an emergency C-section. Death.
