He really is a porkchop!

For Nola's first Christmas, she was 9 months old.

For Robbie's first Christmas, he was 3 months old.

Yes, they are wearing the same outfit.

See, I told you he is a porkchop!

Cookie Tree

Grandma Walton set up a cookie tree this year! I think it is the cutest idea! We decorated Christmas cookies (well, Nicole, Eva and I decorated the cookies. Nola just ate hers) and then we hung them on a special Christmas tree!

The best part? Nola would walk past that tree of cookies multiple times a day and nearly every time, she would have to take a bite. By the time we left, that tree was filled with half eaten cookies!

Cooking Grandma

When Jaxon, Orin and Ami were younger, they referred to their Granmda Walton as 'Cooking Grandma' because thats what she does! Christmas Eve morning, Eva and Nola helped Grandma make some waffles. They were great little helpers :)

Skating!

Over the Christmas Holidays, Nicole, Doug and I took the kids skating. It was the first time skating for both Eva and Nola and they were so excited! Nicole brought her skates and Doug and I hoped to rent some from the arena however the person who rents skates didn't show up, so Doug and I had to go on the ice in our sneakers :(

Nola loved skating! The whole time we were there she yelled "Skating!! Mommy, it's skating!" When we were leaving, she kept running back to the doors, trying to get back in. What is currently working for Nola in those situations is to tell her to say 'bye-bye' to wherever we are leaving. The whole ride home she waved out the window, repeating 'Bye-bye, skating!'

Skating was hard on Robbie too. He spent the whole time bundled up in his car seat, sleeping. It's so hard to be a baby ;)

She makes me laugh!

I have been thinking alot about all of the cute things Nola says and how if I do not write them down, I won't remember them. I am horrible at journaling, so I figure the blog is the best place to go! Here are some of Nola's cute moments :)

- Nola loves her grandparents dogs, Sadie and Harley. Each time she goes to their house, she gets to feed them a biscuit. When she comes home from grandma and grandpa's, she will go on and on about how she fed the dogs a biscuit.
We bought Nola a Cookie Monster and Abby Cadabby ornament for the Christmas tree this year and of course, she wants to play with them. We hung them high on the tree and told her that they live on the tree so she can wave and say 'Merry Christmas!' Now, whenever she looks up at Abby or Cookie, she waves and says 'Sadies Biscuits!' They sound close...I guess. Hehe :)

- Like most toddlers, Nola is a parrot and will repeat darn near anything she hears. Last night, while sitting on the couch, she came up to me and said, 'Mommy, Daddy's awesome.' Wonder where she heard that?

- I put Nola down for her nap the other day and I decided I would have a nap too. I turned on the monitor in my room and crawled into bed. When I woke up, I couldn't hear anything over the monitor, so I figured Nola was still sleeping. A few moments later, I thought I could hear her talking from her bedroom. I got up and checked the monitor. Sure enough, when Nola was in my bedroom earlier that day, she had switched the channel on the monitor so I couldnt hear anything. When I put the monitor on the right channel, I could hear her loud and clear, 'Mommy? Night-night all done, Mommy. All done, Mommy!' That made me laugh :)

- This morning at breakfast
Nola: 'Eggies and toast?'
Me: 'Yes Nola, you are having eggies and toast for breakfast.'
Nola: 'Oh, thats awesome!'

Smile!

Finally caught it on camera. I just love this face :)

Our boy is blessed :)

What a wonderful day. Today, December 4, our little Robbie Boy was blessed. Doug blessed him at our ward in Picture Butte and most of our family was able to attend. Unfortunately, we were missing a few of Doug's siblings as Jaxon was sick, the roads around Calgary were bad for Dori and Brad come this morning and Randy and Sara live on the coast and they came down for Thanksgiving. Even though we were missing some family members, we had a wonderful day. Doug and I had decided to only invite family to the blessing and it was the best choice for us. It was intimate and quiet and the Spirit was very strong. My friend Ashley and I sang a duet during Sacrament Meeting at church and it turned out really well. We sang a rendition of 'I know that my Redeemer lives' and the spirit was very strong. We also had the joy of sharing blessing days with the Bates'. We are very close with them and it was wonderful to share such a special day. Robbie and Mady were so sweet all dressed in white. Of course, I had forgotten to get a picture of the two of them together :(

Sister Pierson, a member in our ward, was able to write down what was said in Robbie's blessing and I would like to share it.

Robbie's blessing:
'We want you to know how pleased we are that you have come to our family and how much of a blessing you are to us and how loved and cared for you are. You have brought great joy to the hearts of your parents, your sister, your aunts and your uncles.
'We bless you that you will grow strong and healthy and that you will be happy.
'We bless you that you will enjoy the time you have with your sister; that you will play well together; that you will care for her. Even though you are younger than her, you will be a caregiver and a watch-guard for her.
'We bless you that you will work hard, not only in temple work, but you will work hard to better yourself, improve your talents and your spirituality. These efforts will bring you joy.
'We bless you to know the importance of family and know that you have lots of family and loved ones around you to help you as your grow. Know that they are there for you.
'We bless you that you will be able to work to support the family you have, that you will take care of them.
'Know that your Heavenly Father loves you.'

As I read through Robbie's blessing, I can't help but think that Robbie has been blessed to be just like his Daddy. So many of the things Robbie has been blessed with are things that Dougie has been blessed with as well. I know that Robbie is a Son of God and is so loved. I am so grateful for the Saviour and His role in me and my family's life. I am and will be forever grateful to the Lord for my many blessings, especially my family.

RIP Sou-Sou

Nola has had to say good bye to a very dear friend of hers. On Monday, November 21, her beloved sou-sou was laid to rest. She has been moving on as best as she can, but like all those who mourn, she has her good days and her bad days. Nap time and nights have been most difficult, but she is a trooper and things are starting to get easier. She had a hard moment this morning as we were looking back on pictures and she was reminded of this dear friend. She cried out for him for a few minutes "Sou-sou! Oh Mommy, my Sou-sou". She was able to pull out of her sadness and took comfort in her baby and Elmo.

Sou-sou, it has been a good run. May you rest in peace.

2 month stat!

Weight: 11 lbs 7 oz
Length: 23 inches

Robbie boy! I can't believe he is already 2 months old! He has been doing great. His gas is pretty much gone, he's sleeping like an angel and he smiled for the first time yesterday! I couldn't ask for anything more. Love you Big Boy!!

Big boy.

I am having a bit of a hard time expressing how I feel, so bare with me.

Robbie...he is my big boy! He is only 7 1/2 weeks and is still very much a baby, however he is physically so big, it seems like he is growing up too fast. I compare Robbie to Nola, as Nola is all that I have known, and I think that's why this has been an issue for me. She was such a little peanut! She stayed physically tiny for months and months, which was wonderful because she stayed my little baby. I have always said that I wanted a big, burly boy, and I got him! Robbie is wearing clothes that Nola wore when she was 5 months old and it makes me feel like things are going too fast.

Yesterday, Robbie officially lost his 'new-born' cry. Now, he is loud and proud! Another new-born-ism was lost yesterday - the bassinet. Robbie is too long for his bassinet and he is ready for his crib. Yikes!! I am thinking I am going to set up the play-pen in our room 'cause I am SO not ready for him to be in his own room. He's not even 8 weeks! Nola slept in the bassinet until she was 4 months. Here I go again, comparing him to Nola.

Even though he is growing quickly, I have been so blessed as I have really been able to enjoy him. I was scared that I wouldn't have the time or ability to really bond with him Robbie, that's I would be too busy. I have loved every little snuggle with my big boy.

Robbie, Mommy loves you!

Life with Robbie

My little Robbie boy. Oh, how I love him! Life with Robbie has been very rewarding. He has been a very different baby than Nola was, which has taken a little getting used to. Nola was the easiest baby ever....I mean, ever. All she did was eat and sleep. I would have to strip her down to her diaper to nurse, just so she would wake up! Robbie has been an alert little guy from day one. My mom was so excited in the hospital after he was born because she could see his eyes! My parents had to wait nearly 3 weeks to see Nola with her eyes open. With him being alert, we get to interact alot more, which is so wonderful! He is one strong baby too! My goodness! He has been holding his head up for weeks!

One of the challenges with Robbie is gas. The poor little man, he gets horrible gas. I haven't been able to figure out what exactly has been causing it. I can tell that he doesn't like it when I eat anything with spice on it, but I also think it may be the way he is nursing. I have an appointment next week with a lactation consultant to get some help and hopefully ease some of his (and my) pain.

Here are a couple of pic's of him that I have been loving! He really is perfect and he makes me so happy. How I love my children :)

"Tick-o-teat!"

Nola had her first experience Trick-or-Treating this year. I wasn't too sure how she would feel about it. I figured she wouldn't be all that interested, but boy was I wrong! We went down to Cardston to Trick-or-Treat with Colie and Eva and I really think Eva got Nola hyped up for the evening! The girls were so cute in their costumes! Eva was dressed up at Strawberry Shortcake, Nola was Abby Cadabby and Robbie was Elmo. Robbie stayed home with Grandma while Nicole, Drue, Doug, the girls and I went out. We just went down the street, however it was plenty for the girls. They were so sweet, holding hands and walking door to door. At some doors, I could see Nola trying to walk right into the persons house! Good thing she is young and cute! Both Colie and I had our cameras and were taking a bunch of pictures, all of which we prompted the girls to say "cheese"! Well, Nola went running with it! All night, whenever a camera would flash, she would give us a huge smile and a big long "cheeeeeeeeese!" It was too cute.
