Humbled

I feel it necessary to record how I am feeling tonight.

Doug is away this evening. He has spent the afternoon and evening dirt biking with his co-worker, and he is having such a blast. I talked to him on the phone, and the boy was clearly on cloud 9. Hearing him so happy, watching him be able to do the things he loves, giving him time to go out and just be Doug, blesses me with such deep and sincere joy. I love him, immensely.

I have had a bit of a grumbly belly this evening, which was the worst right around the kids bed time. I informed them it was bed time and that I wasn't feeling too well, so we need to work as a family. The kids listened so beautifully and really helped one another get ready for bed. Sorry to share too much info, but Nola and Robbie both came into the bathroom to see me and to show me they got into their jammies. When they saw that I was really not feeling well, the both came to me and rubbed my legs. Once in their rooms, Nola picked a short book for bedtime story, knowing that I was not well. She the offered the family prayer and said 'Jesus, could you please bless my mom so she will feel better and can have a good night sleep?' We all then had our regular snuggles and talked about the day. Nola gave me her horse stuffy to sleep with and Robbie wouldn't let me leave until he kissed my nose, both cheeks, forehead, chin and lips. The love I feel from these little people...it's life altering.

I am humbled. Totally and completely. I do know that God is good, that He loves me and that He is mindful of me, however in moments like this evening, I am just so humbled, so awe inspired, so utterly grateful that He is THAT good, that He loves me THAT much and that He is SO mindful of me. Every gift comes from Him.

It is my priveldge to be a wife...to be Doug's wife. There truly are no words to ever describe what he has done to me, what he has done for me. Our love is infinite, and through the grace and love of God, so is our marriage.  Doug embodies everything that is good in this world.

It is my priveldge to be a mother...to be Nola, Robbie and Johns mother. I still cannot believe that I have been entrusted with these three. I often wonder, what could they learn from me? These three valiant, beautiful, pure beings. Truthfully, they are the teachers. They teach me life lessons that no others could. They teach me patience, love, endurance, resiliency, temperance, compassion, humility, dependence and faith. They are my breath, my life, my heart, my soul.

It is my priveldge to be me...to be Jess. I am grateful to be me - to walk this path, to bask in this sunshine, to dance in this rain, to endure these storms. The Lord has blessed me with an ability to love, and with that, I love hard. Truly loving can be a challenge...opening your heart to others leaves you vulnerable, and with that, you can be left with some very deep wounds. But then, it also blesses you with the pure, burning love of our fellow men. The kind of love that saves, heals, redeems and glorifies. This is what I live for...this is my passion, to love.

Heavenly Father, thank you. Thank you for this life, this amazing opportunity to live, learn, love and grow. Thank you for sending us your Son, Jesus Christ. I love Him, and trust Him. All my thanks are to Thee.

Peanut free

When Rob was not yet one, he accidentally ingested the tiniest amount of peanut butter. Within moments, he face and neck were covered in hives. We gave have him a bottle to keep him swallowing and took him to the hospital. Luckily , the reaction wasn't anaphylactic, but we were told to avoid all nuts.

Fast forward about a year. While sick in the hospital from my pregnancy with John, Rob eats some bread that was completely nut-free, but the same thing happened....only way worse. He literally looked like a monster. His face was so swollen you could see all the whites of his eyes, and he whole head, neck and cheat were covered in hives. What could possibly have triggered that?

A few months after John is born, we are eating dinner - quinoa lentil soup - and Rob goes for allergy attack number three. Luckily, this reaction didn't warrant a trip to the hospital like the others did, but it was scary none the less.

After waiting over a year for an appointment, this past Tuesday I was able to take Rob to the allergist in Calgary and really see what is going on with this boy and his allergies. The testing was really neat. They put common allergens into an oil form, put drops on his skin and then pricked him so the allergen got into his skin. Robbie did SO well!! He didn't start to squirm until the last 3 drops. He had a total of 20 tests done. He was so proud of himself, and he thought it was cool he had dots on his arms.

Within moments of the prick, the two spots that were tested for peanuts immediately flared up into large hives.

He has a sever allergy to peanuts, a swell as hemp and lentils. As scary as it is to realize that these foods could harm Robbie so intensely - heck, they could kill him - I just feel so much better knowing exactly what it is.

Even more to love!!

Yes!! Another niece or nephew on the way! Dori is due Feb 3 :) She looks absolutely amazing and judging by her previous offspring *note the adorable child above* this babe is going to be just perfect. So excited for you Dori, Brad and Miss Lou!

A day with Dori!!!

Yesterday, the kids and I headed up to Calgary to visit Dori and Miss Lou!! I totally lucked out that it just happened to be the same day a Rob's allergist appointment (which I'll blog about later). Nola was especially excited to see our little Arya. She kept saying 'I can't wait to go be a big cousin!!!' As soon as we walked in the door, Arya grabbed Nola's hand and took her off to play. It was darling to watch.

We played, are some yummy pizza and watermelon and then Rob and headed out for his appointment. Dori was a life saver - I couldn't imagine having to bring Nola and John with me!!

When we got back we played in the back yard, had a Popsicle treat and Dori and I got to visit while the kids played.

Now just look at this face. Look at her.

Miss Lou, I am so madly in love with you!! I have always felt such a connection with you. I love to FaceTime and see that sweet face, or when you tell me stories over the phone. I love the great big hugs you give and my personal fav, the big, wet smooches right smack dab on the lips. I am always here for you my darling, always. I can't wait to play some more!!

My and my John John

Just try not to smile when you see this sweet face, I dare ya!!

I love spending time with my John John!!

Calgary Sedrovic Trip 2015

Another absolutely fabulous Sedrovic family vacation!!!  The original plan was to go to the zoo on Friday, however it was pouring rain and the wind was crazy, so we figured we'd give the Telus Spark Centre a try. It was AWESOME! If you haven't gone yet, go. It's worth it.

We all had a blast in there - so much to look at! And we didn't even get to see it all. Here are some pics from there.

John was making a song with grandpa. You placed the birds on the screen to make notes and could adjust the tempo. It was pretty neat.

Making rain music with GG!

The boys LOVED playing with the building blocks. We stood here a while :)

Light music.

Dance energy!

Robbie sat here for ages!!! You place items in the tub and they blow out. You can ajust the wind and there were a whole bunch of objects to try.

Nola and Auntie Sarah, the designers.

Hanging out 'under the stars'!

John making energy with Dad!

After the science centre, we headed out to Crossiron Mills Mall for supper and the arcade. We ate a South Street Burger - my fav - and us girls took Sarah maternity clothes shopping! Yay!!! Baby!! I am still just so stupidly excited :) she got some cute stuff and she even tried on the fake belly. Haha! It looks so ridiculous! After that, we met up with the boys and walked to the arcade. Luckily for us big kids, the old folks took the little kids for ice cream and we got to play!!! Sarah and I went and played whatever we could. I whooped her at air hockey, but then she killed me at connect 4. We played ski ball, shot some hoops, raced snowmobiles, threw some footballs, and went for a ride in a old mine cart. Wanna know what those boys did?

This

The whole time were we there, AJ and Doug played Jurassic Park. As you can tell from their faces, they were so into it! Haha! Sarah and I would just walk by and laugh at them. I guess they came pretty close to beating the game. Silly boys :)

After the mall, back to the hotel and straight to bed. We were all so tired!!

The next day, we were up, at it and off to Calaway Park!! It was a fun filled day that left us all exhausted!!

Even John got to go on a couple rides!! He was so proud of himself!

Up and away!

John kept pointing and saying 'Whoa! Ah-pain!!'

Robbie, Uncle and GG.

Nola was hilarious!! She would pull off her hat, wave it in the air and shout 'Yeehaw!!'

Grandma and the kids.

'Hi Am-a! Hi No-ya! Hi Ruff!'

Doug and AJ on the roller coaster!

We spent the whole day there!! When we got back to the hotel, we order room service for the kids (and me) and then went to the pool. GG got the kids new towels and they looked so cute!

After the pool the kids went to bed and us grown ups ordered tons of room service!! It was delicious!

The next morning was the zoo. We didn't last there long - we were all so exhausted  - but it was fun! We went and saw the penguin exhibit for the first time - it was so cool!!! I love penguins. Watching them dive in and out of the water and waddle around, you can't help but smile. Then we actually spent pretty much the whole time we were there in the Canadian Wildlife Exhibit. They kids did a treasure hunt with Grandma and Uncle through there and it was great to see the animals.

Uncle, Auntie and GG left before us, and we only stayed to go see the butterfly conservatory. Last year, a butterfly landed on Nola's arm, so she desperately wanted to go back. No butterfly's landed on her this year, but she still loved it.

Off to the gift shop and then back home.

My family is amazing. Truly, it is. I love how we work together and help each other out. We had SO much help with the kids. Doug and I even had a few moments to walk alone, holding hands :) I am so grateful for my family. We love and respect you all so much!

Can't wait for next year!!

Funny things about John

This kid makes us laugh nearly all day long! Here are some if his funny things

- rockin' out. He has this motorbike toy and when you press a button it plays a song. When the song comes on he gets this smug look on his face and nods his head up and down. It is SO funny! The look on his face is like 'Oh yeah. I'm jammin' I hope we can get it on video.
- 'Mooooooose' haha! Just thinking about it makes me laugh! When we were at the Bass Pro Shop, my dad showed John the moose and asked him was it was. John said 'A puppy!' My Dad corrected him as repeatedly said 'Moose. Moose. Moose.' John watched him hard the made the biggest duck lips I have ever seen and said 'Mooooooose.' It was so cute!!
- he does not stop talking. Hmmm, I wonder where he gets that from? *all fingers pointing at Jess* When we are driving, it does not stop. 'Horse! Nay! Cow...coooow. Moooo. John! Hi John! Hi Mommy. Hi Daddy! Hi Papa! Papa. Papa. Papa. Meow. GG. Kitty! Ah-pain!' and so on. What a guy.
- 'Yes.' For the longest time when you asked him if he wanted something, he'd say 'Be-ah!' which meant yes please. Then he started saying 'Ah peas', and now he gives a tiny nod and says as clear as day 'Yes.' It's so cute.
'John, would you like some water?'
'Yes.'
Hehe :)
- 'Its arbage.' John loves to look around the house, find things he thinks does not belong and then throw it in the garbage. After lunch, there was a pizza crust on ground. He picked it up and said 'it's arbage' and threw it into the garbage . Great little trick huh? Well, we have found a few other things in the trash lately, including books, utensils, dishes and toys. I can just hear his inner voice 'Don't worry mom. It's garbage'
- the single leg kick-dance. As I mentioned above, he does this awesome nod dancing when he is rocking out. But sometimes, if we are really lucky, he'll get his one leg kicking and really groove. We caught a picture of it at the science centre

- 'Johnny Johnny.' Anyone familiar with the Johnny Johnny song? It goes like this:
Johnny Johnny. Yes Papa?
Eating sugar? No Papa.
Telling lies? No Papa.
Open your mouth. Ha-ha-ha!!

John John has been singing this one for a while, and it usually goes something like this.

Johnny Johnny. Yes Papa?
Eating sugar? No No-ya.
Telling lies? No Daddy.
Open your mouth. *giggling*
- he calls Robbie either Ruff or Roddy. It's so cute!! 'G'night No-ya. G'night Ruff.'

John John, you really are just too cute to be true!! You fill our home and our hearts with so much love, so many smiles and so many laughs! I still can't believe I get to be your Mom.

Love you Nugget!
