A weekend in Fernie

After Eva's birthday party on Saturday, we headed down to Fernie to catch some Griz Days festivities. We rolled into town right before the parade, so we just stopped quickly at GG's to get into our snow clothes. I am not too sure what Nola thought of the parade. She seemed to like some of it, but there were a lot of loud noises and she got scared a couple times. Even Robbie would jump in the ERGO when the semi blew its horn! After the parade we went to BP's for supper with Uncle AJ and Auntie Sarah.

Doug and I were a little worried about sleeping over at GG's. Since Nola is no longer in a play pen, we weren't sure how to work the sleeping arragments. We decided to have Nola sleep on the bedroom floor with us and Robbie would sleep in the play pen in the other room. We have never had Nola sleep in the same room as us, so we were nervous. Especially with me having to get up in the night to feed Robbie. We put the kids to bed and they were sleeping fine, until...

Poor little Nola woke up at 4am, vomitting. She had gotten the flu once before, when she was 9 months, but this is her first time vomitting as a toddler. Poor thing was so scared! After she had decorated her bed, we spent some time in the washroom, waiting for more to come. After waiting quite some time, we gave her a bath and some fresh PJs. GG had a TV in the room, so Nola came into bed with us to watch one of her favorite shows - Elmo in Grouchland. Doug started to doze off and Nola was just watchig her show, so I decided to try to get back to sleep. No more than 2 minutes after I took off my glasses, Nola started vomitting again... all over our bed. Sad face. Fortuntaly, that was her last time and she fell asleep shortly after.

We had plans to watch the dummy downhill, go snowshoeing and do some shopping while in Fernie, but we ended up staying the house pretty much the whole time. Nola was in need of LOTS of snuggles. We did get out and go swimming for an hour on Sunday night with kids. It made them happy and tired them out, which made us happy :) Thanks to GG, Doug and I went out for a date once the kids were down on Sunday night. We went and had sushi :) It was wonderful.

Even though things got a little crazy and we didn't get to do what we planned, we had a wonderful weekend. We were happy to see GG, Auntie Sarah and Uncle AJ and spend the day snuggling. I love my family!
