Hail Storm

What. A. Night.

We had planned to go out camping for the weekend with Trevor and Jo to Beaver Mines, so we checked the forecast to see what kind of weather we were heading into. We are big kids – we don’t mind camping in the rain - however when we saw that there was a severe storm warning including 110KM winds, golf ball sized hail and tornado watch, we were a little nervous. We were on the fence as to whether or not we would head out on Friday nights as planned, or wait for the next day. As we sat in the house stewing, we looked out the window and saw the storm on our doorstep. Within minutes, the rain poured, the wind whipped and the hail hammered our house. We all sat in awe at the power of Mother Nature. It was over in under half hour, however the damage was ridiculous. Luckily we got our van into the garage on time, but there are holes in our siding, damage to the roof and the garden was darn near totaled.

Thankfully we were all safe and have insurance. To be honest, my thoughts that played over and over in my mind as we watched the storm went to those who do not have homes… to those who may have been stuck outside. Even if you were just pulled over on the side of the road in your car, it would have been terrifying. How grateful I am that we were home and safe.

And yes, we did go camping the next, which is another post 

  1. We were lucky enough to be in Raymond and completely missed the storm. We don't have a garage so our van was saved. crazy how something that passes so quickly can do so much damage.
